Robert Brumfield

Hello, I’m Robert Brumfield, Attorney at Law. My grandfather operated a successful soft drink bottling business in Rome, Georgia. After years of hard work, he and his co-owner brother sold the company. Unfortunately, he did not plan the transaction in a way that would protect his payments. When the buyer stopped making payments and went out of business, my grandfather was dealt a severe financial blow. I know that this transaction caused him tremendous stress and likely contributed to him passing away much earlier than he likely otherwise would have.

When I think about what my grandfather went through, I am very sure that he could have taken planning steps which would have protected his retirement from the soft drink bottling business, delivered him a long retirement and provided personal and financial peace of mind.

After learning more about my grandfather’s experiences, it caused me to focus my legal work on family and business planning with the goal to enhance my clients personal and business life along with providing protection for their legacy.

While my desire is to always do good work for my clients, it is also very important to get to know my clients on a personal level. Distressing situations confront all of us and by developing good relationships, we are able to achieve and bring about results for our clients that provide peace of mind.

With this perspective in mind, I have been practicing law since 1984. While I regularly receive a “Top Lawyers in California” award (which is based upon peer review and the highest ethical standards) and “Client Distinction” and “Client Champion” awards from Martindale-Hubbell (which are based upon quality of service, overall value, responsiveness, and communication ability), what those awards really mean to me is that we have been successful at creating good relationships with our clients.

Over my years in practice, I have represented numerous private businesses and individuals in the areas of trusts and estates, asset protection planning business law, all aspects of real estate, water law, oil and gas, and insolvency and bankruptcy for creditors.

I also serve as a mediator, handling mediations in all of the areas in which I practice.

A native of New Orleans, I have practiced law in Bakersfield since 1986 and recently expanded by opening an office in Mammoth Lakes.
